Gensler's practice seeks a talented technical designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the design and delivery of high‐tech, new development architecture projects, such as data centers, high‐density labs, advanced manufacturing, or other complex critical facilities. You will be a key team member supporting our clients' expansion initiatives and will collaborate with a team of architects and designers to develop innovative design solutions and coordinate the project through the construction documentation phase.
What You Will Do
* Participate in all project phases, including conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and implementation.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams, ensuring design intent and project objectives are carried out through all phases.
* Coordinate regularly with project team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies, and vendors to meet project goals and ensure alignment.
* Coordinate documentation with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.).
* Resolve complex technical and design issues to produce thorough, constructible, and innovative solutions.
* Direct the production of drawings, specifications, and construction administration tasks.
* Ensure delivery of documentation that reflects design intent and top‐tier technical quality.
* Process submittals / substitution requests during construction and address RFIs.
* Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project.
* Actively participate and contribute to the financial performance of the project.
* Review and contribute to proposals and contracts with the Design Manager.
* Contribute to office initiatives, knowledge‐sharing, and learning programs to support team development and studio culture.
Your Qualifications
* Bachelor or Master of Architecture degree.
* 5+ years of related project experience.
* Experience in Critical Facilities projects (e.g., data centers, command and control centers, high‐performance computing), or similarly complex projects that may include science laboratories, high‐tech manufacturing, healthcare, aviation & transportation.
* Proficient in design modeling / visualization tools including Revit, Rhino, Enscape; experience with Excel and computational tools like Grasshopper / Dynamo is a plus.
* Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently.
* Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key partners.
* Excellent analytical and problem‐solving skills.
* Knowledge of sustainable design principles required.
* LEED, WELL, Fitwel, Greenmark or other rating systems accreditation preferable.
* Previous experience in sustainable design projects preferable, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification.
* Demonstrate a collaborative and integrated approach towards achieving high sustainability project goals.
