Overview

Hedland Senior High School (SHS), located in the Pilbara, is an Independent Public-School catering for students from Year 7 to Year 12. This is a permanent, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026. The Role

We seek motivated applicants with an in-depth understanding of the Western Australian Languages Curriculum and contemporary pedagogical practices to support the ongoing development of our languages program. A skillset in Japanese is highly regarded, but delivery of other languages will also be considered.

Applicants should have knowledge in teaching the Language, classroom teaching, and high-level speaking, reading and writing skills.

Mobility and Eligibility

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers: eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school, may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment with a right of return to their substantive position.

At the end of the mobility period, teachers can return to their substantive role or transfer permanently to this school. Check eligibility on IKON.

Note: south west teachers are not eligible to move to another south west school under this trial.

Eligibility to Work

To work with us, you must:

- hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment
- apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start
