Due to growth, we are seeking an experienced IT Security Consultant to join our client's Brisbane-based team. You will bring a cyber-by-design mindset that combines technical expertise, compliance, and a client-first approach!

The Role

The IT Security Consultant will play a big role in maintaining, enhancing, and implementing cybersecurity solutions for the organisation and its clients. You will ensure client ICT environments are secure, compliant, and aligned with organisational frameworks and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

* Implement SMB1001 and related security systems (e.g., uSecure, Keeper, Sophos) for clients in line with sales agreements by applying consistent, repeatable processes, mapping and enforcing technical controls, and resolving end-user vulnerabilities to maintain ongoing compliance
* Lead investigation of cybersecurity incidents in alignment with CIRP and produce high-quality incident reports with timelines, impact, root cause, and recommendations
* Coordinate post-incident reviews, track remediation actions, and support continual improvement
* Conduct regular cyber health checks across systems, networks, and user environments and assess endpoint, network, and identity configurations against minimum security standards
* Oversee M365 security and compliance, monitor DLP events and identity protection incidents
* Implement corrective actions and monitor client progress toward target security maturity levels
* Conduct QA of project deliverables - validate performance and effectiveness of newly implemented security solutions
* Collaborate with stakeholders to develop change management strategies and user adoption plant
* Support client organisations in maintaining compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards, frameworks, and regulatory obligations.
* Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in Cyber Security and actively contribute to the enhancement of project management methodologies, tools, and processes

The Successful Candidate

* At least 2 years of relevant or similar experience, preferably in the managed services environment
* Tertiary education in a relevant IT discipline and / or industry-recognised certifications
* Demonstrated experience implementing and managing security frameworks, controls, or standards
* Hands-on background assessing, prioritising, and remediating security risks and vulnerabilities in a client-focused environment
* Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
* Has strong commercial acumen, with a proactive approach to seeking market information and a keen interest in business issues
* Excellent professional communication skills, with the ability to tailor context, channel, and style to suit different audiences
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to deliver meaningful and measurable outcomes
* Highly organised, with strong planning and time-management skills
