About the role
Reporting into the Director of Clinical Services, you'll be responsible for building, supporting and developing Sonder's mental health clinical teams. This role combines clinical safety and quality, clinical leadership, clinical operations, service development and innovation. As the clinical leader for our Psychology, Counselling and Social Work teams, you will drive clinical quality, team growth and service expansion while ensuring the highest standards of evidence‐based care, within the framework of our brief intervention model for our members.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of digital mental health service delivery at scale. You will be the clinical expert to lead a multidisciplinary team of mental health practitioners, establish best practice frameworks, foster a culture of clinical excellence and continuous learning, and directly influence the mental health outcomes of over 1,000,000+ members across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Clinical oversight is an advisor in the UK only as per PII authority.
The team is structured to deliver high‐quality accessible and scalable mental health support through a brief intervention and stepped‐care model. The position relies on influence, working collaboratively with the operational leads to align service delivery with clinical best practice while maintaining efficient operations.
Lead Psychologist Responsibilities
* Clinical Supervision & Development: Provide regular clinical supervision, mentoring and professional development to build capability to safely and effectively deliver the Sonder Model of care across all teams.
* Recruitment & Onboarding: Support recruitment for clinical roles, co‐design onboarding pathways and build a high‐performing team culture.
* Service Innovation: Continuously improve clinical pathways, introduce evidence‐based interventions and maintain professional relationships across the Third‐Party Provider Network.
* Collaborative Leadership: Partner with the Director of Clinical Services, Practice Managers, Quality Assurance Manager, Partnership Manager and multidisciplinary teams to align clinical strategy with operational goals and metrics.

What you bring to the team
* Minimum 8 years clinical experience which includes:
o Evidence‐based, person‐centred and recovery‐focused formulation, treatment planning and delivery across a variety of presentations, cohorts and cultural backgrounds.
o Multidisciplinary case collaboration and dual 'customer' stakeholder management.
* Experience in telehealth or virtual services.
* Experience delivering psycho‐education to customers in a virtual environment.
* Tertiary degrees recognised by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) constituting sufficient qualification for registration as a psychologist.
* Unrestricted registration with AHPRA as a psychologist, with Board‐Approved Supervisor status (or currently undergoing board supervision training).
* Influencing without authority; effectively supports operational leaders and teams in aligning service delivery with clinical best practices, fostering buy‐in through credibility, persuasion, and collaboration.
* Communicates clearly and assertively at all levels, including in remote settings, translating clinical expertise into actionable guidance.
* Cultivates strong relationships within multidisciplinary teams, including non‐clinical leads, to ensure shared understanding and aligned priorities.
* Proven ability to build strong, positive relationships across multidisciplinary teams, including non‐clinical team leads, fostering shared understanding and alignment of priorities.
* Demonstrates strong organisational skills and exceptional time management, capable of handling multiple complex workflows and competing demands effectively.
