Court Liaison Officer (CNC2, OT4, SW4, Clinical Psychologist) – Tamworth Local Court, Justice Health - PFT

Employment Type : Permanent Full Time

Position Classification and Remuneration : Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 ($135,826.03 - $138,534.10), Clinical Psychologist ($122,881 - $128,653), Occupational Therapist Lvl 4 ($121,658 - $124,607), Social Worker Lvl 4 ($121,658 - $124,607) per annum plus superannuation

The Role

Assisting the Local Court Magistrate with the diversion of defendants who have or are suspected of having a mental illness, mental disorder or a cognitive impairment from the Criminal Justice System into the community.


Essential Criteria

* Must hold a relevant post graduate qualification in mental health.
* Must hold a current NSW Drivers Licence.


Qualifications by Discipline

* Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2
o Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
o Current full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
o Five years full time equivalent post registration clinical experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent in an acute mental health setting.
* Occupational Therapist Level 4
o Must hold qualifications recognised for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
o Must hold general registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
o Five years full time equivalent post registration clinical experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent in an acute mental health setting.
* Social Worker Level 4
o Minimum Bachelor's degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
o Five years full time equivalent post registration clinical experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent in an acute mental health setting.
* Clinical Psychologist
o Four year degree in psychology, being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology; or a qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
o Hold general registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
o Five years full time equivalent post registration clinical experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent in an acute mental health setting.


Our Service and Team

Statewide Community and Court Liaison Service (SCCLS) delivered by Justice Health NSW offers mental health support in Local Courts across NSW. This service conducts thorough evaluations and, when suitable, offers suggestions to magistrates for diverting individuals away from custody and into suitable treatment options.
