Who we are
The Strategy, Performance and Engagement Division delivers departmental services such as media and communications, engagement, governance, planning, reporting, risk management, and crisis/emergency management. We provide direct support to the ministers' offices and manage Parliamentary and Cabinet business for the department. We advise the executive and business areas on portfolio strategy, including developing and embedding the department's strategic purpose, objectives, priorities, vision and values.
The Communication and Media Branch delivers integrated communication services to the department and our ministers to various audiences including industry stakeholders and the public, partnering to achieve business objectives and outcomes through evidence-based, integrated communication services and support.
The key duties of the position include
The Job
1. This is a new position in the branch and will play a key role in supporting the implementation of a new service delivery and operating model, advocating for change, and supporting the strategic and cultural shifts needed to operationalise the changes.
2. Providing high-level business support (including strategic, communication and operational advice) to the Assistant Secretary (AS) and the branch senior leadership team in daily operations.
3. Prepare advice based on current government policy and best practice communication approaches.
4. Supporting the AS and senior leadership team in managing emergent and sensitive issues and opportunities.
5. Working alongside the AS and Senior Public Officer Grade Two roles to transition the branch to a new operating model, integrating communication disciplines to deliver integrated communication solutions.
6. Preparation of communication, media and engagement reports including quarterly reporting to the Deputy Secretaries against agreed communication outcomes.
7. Management and coordination of briefing notes, submissions and reports and branch business planning.
8. Supporting The Office of the Chief Strategy, Performance and Engagement Officer as required with priority tasks as they arise.
