About the Role
Maitland City Council is seeking an experienced Mechanical Tradesperson to join our Workshop Team. Based at our Works Depot this role provides scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance and repair to Council's plant, fleet and equipment. In collaboration with other team members, you will provide advice and guidance to stakeholders regarding the service, operation and maintenance of plant equipment such as tractors, heavy vehicles, small plant and light vehicles. Most importantly you will provide maintenance works to a high quality and standards, within specified time frames, and budgets.
Please note that for the purposes of recruitment and to reflect current industry titles, this role is marketed as Mechanical Tradesperson. Internally, this role is titled Plant Mechanic.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have a trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle or Mobile Plant Mechanic or related discipline. You will also possess industry experience in the repair and maintenance of a diverse range of heavy plant, trucks and vehicles e.g. from general gardening equipment to rubbish compactors. You will enjoy working within a team environment, be an excellent problem solver, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
Having the following licences/tickets is not essential, but would be desirable:
1. HR Driver's Licence
2. Automotive air conditioning repairer license
3. RMS inspection certificate Light and Heavy Vehicles
Council will consider applicants who hold a NSW Fair Trading Tradesperson Certificate Motor Mechanic (MVRIC) and will support obtaining RMS Inspection Certification for the right applicant

This is a permanent full-time role with a salary range of $69,058 up to $76,655 per year based on demonstrated competencies + allowance adverse working Conditions $2,458 + 11% p.a. super.
