TO2 Chemical Residue Laboratory Science Technician
Our government client is looking for a TO2 Science Technician to join the Chemical Residue Laboratory team on a temporary basis until June 2026. The role provides scientific support to the Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity Business Group.
Responsibilities
* Work independently but under direction to deliver analytical chemistry testing services.
* Apply chemical techniques to enable the rapid and accurate quantification of insecticide residues in environmental samples.
* Accurately perform scientific tasks in accordance with existing standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WIs), protocols or methodologies to support the generation of valid data and ongoing compliance with NATA accreditation, workplace health and safety requirements and legislative obligations.
* Maintain, undertake, check and arrange for calibration of laboratory equipment according to the equipment quality maintenance schedule.
* Undertake other duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager and Principal Scientist to meet the business needs of the Chemical Residue Laboratory and Biosecurity Queensland.
Skills and Experience
* Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or a closely related discipline, or equivalent.
* Previous experience within a laboratory role.
* Experience operating within a Laboratory Quality Management System is highly desirable.
* Experience using GC-MS is not essential, but desirable.
