The Role
The College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic full‐time Secondary Librarian to commence on 10 August 2026 for a full‐time, term‐time, 12‐month maternity leave contract. Reporting to the Head of Teaching & Learning (Secondary), the Secondary Librarian is responsible for the day‐to‐day operation of the Secondary Library and acts as a key link between information services and the College community. The role supports curriculum delivery through the provision of responsive, contemporary library services, working closely with staff and students to enhance research, literacy, and learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the daily operations of the Secondary Library, ensuring an organised and engaging learning environment
* Promote literacy and a love of reading, including the curation and promotion of new resources
* Collaborate with teaching staff to support curriculum delivery and resource‐based learning
* Support students and staff in accessing and utilising library and digital resources
* Maintain library systems, including catalogue records and LMS (Oliver)
* Coordinate library administration and processes to support teaching and learning programs
* Promote library services, emerging technologies, and educational practices
* Ensure compliance with copyright and relevant legislation
* Support and supervise library staff, volunteers, and students as required
To be successful, you will:
* Demonstrate experience in a school or educational library environment
* Have strong knowledge of contemporary library systems and practices
* Be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities in a fast‐paced environment
* Possess excellent communication and relationship‐building skills
* Be confident using Microsoft 365 and emerging technologies
* Show initiative, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement
* Align with and support the College's Anglican ethos and values
* Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate professional boundaries and standards when working with children and young people
Qualifications and requirements
* Relevant qualifications in Librarianship, Information Services, or similar (ALIA/ASLA recognised)
* Membership (or eligibility) with ALIA and/or ASLA
* Teacher Librarian qualifications (desirable)
* Current paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
* Commitment to student protection, wellbeing, and WHS requirements
* Ability to work onsite in a front‐facing role supporting students and staff
