About the new Midland Private Hospital
* Located just 300 metres from the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Campus.
* A comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, with interventional cardiology being offered for the first time in the region.
* The hospital will feature:
o 96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six‐bed critical care/high dependency unit.
o 33‐bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit.
o Eight operating theatres.
o A cardiac/vascular catheter laboratory.
About the Role
The Director of Medical Services will drive innovative and responsive medical leadership, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and professional practice across the hospital. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will contribute to strategic decision‐making, oversee robust clinical governance frameworks, and provide expert guidance on medical workforce, regulatory compliance, and service development.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing strong leadership to Medical Services, fostering trust and effective communication among medical practitioners, caregivers, and administrative professionals.
* Promoting clinical excellence and efficient, patient‐centred care while upholding the highest standards of medical practice.
* Offering expert guidance to credentialed medical practitioners, hospital executives, and managers on medical service delivery.
* Overseeing systems and processes that ensure the highest standards of clinical safety, quality, and risk management, with a focus on:
o Clinical performance oversight, peer review, and addressing variations in practice.
o Accreditation, credentialing, and scope of practice in alignment with SJGHC Medical Practitioner Bylaws.
o Root cause analysis, clinical risk mitigation, and complaint management.
o Monitoring and addressing individual practitioner performance and ensuring compliance with relevant policies, legal frameworks, and best practices.
* Supporting the CEO in engaging with medical practitioners on credentialing, clinical performance, and strategic recruitment.
* Establishing robust communication channels to continuously advance clinical safety and quality.
* Leading external medical liaison with medico‐legal bodies, coroners, and professional organisations as needed.
* You are a registered Medical Practitioner with AHPRA and hold a Fellowship of a Royal Australasian College. You will bring a proven track record of clinical leadership, governance expertise, and the ability to achieve outstanding patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and service satisfaction in acute healthcare settings.
To succeed, you will demonstrate expertise in change management, strong influencing skills, and a proven ability to cultivate a service‐oriented culture that promotes excellent patient care and responsible stewardship, with a focus on innovation and productivity enhancements.
As an integral part of our hospital's leadership team, you will bring experience in the application of quality and clinical risk management across Midland Private Hospital.
