We are seeking a Qualified Marine Mechanic to join our team, servicing Paradise Jet Boating and Aquaduck Safaris on the Gold Coast.
The primary focus of this role is to maintain, diagnose, and repair fleet of jet boats and occasionally amphibious vessels, ensuring they are in top working condition, safe, reliable, and fully compliant with AMSA, QLD Transport, and NHVR regulations.
You'll play a key part in ensuring our tourism operations run smoothly by keeping our unique fleet in excellent condition. This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. You must be available to respond to mechanical issues when needed and adhere to our ZERO TOLERANCE policy on drugs and alcohol.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on marine engines (Yanmar and Mercruiser), jet propulsion systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic components.
* Service and maintain jet boats and amphibious vehicles in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory standards.
* Conduct inspections and ensure all vessels remain compliant with AMSA
* Overhaul major mechanical components as required.
* Maintain vessels and equipment in a clean, presentable condition at all times.
* Keep accurate digital records for job cards, hours worked, and parts used.
* Assist in research and development projects to improve performance, efficiency, and safety.
* Train, mentor, and support junior staff and apprentices in workshop procedures.
* Be rostered for on-call support (weekends) and cover absences in the maintenance team.
* Ensure compliance with WH&S procedures and report any safety concerns or major faults.
* Operate company vehicles responsibly and keep them clean and tidy.
Workshop Duties:
* Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized workshop environment.
* Identify and implement opportunities to improve workshop efficiency.
Essential Requirements:
* Certificate III in Marine Mechanical Technology (or Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanics with marine crossover experience).
* Experience in a similar marine or mechanical role.
* Experience as a heavy diesel mechanic.
* Diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
* Experience with Yanmar and Mercruiser marine engines, jet drives, and hydraulic systems desirable
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to mentor junior staff and apprentices.
Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential but Highly Regarded):
* Forklift licence
* Coxswain's ticket (or willingness to obtain)
* Experience with tourism vessels or commercial marine operations
