A permanent role for an experienced Senior Protection and Controls Engineer to lead secondary systems design across substations, distributed generation connections and major network projects. You will provide technical expertise, mentor design staff and deliver high quality engineering outcomes for complex electrical assets.
This position suits someone who enjoys ownership, technical depth, innovation and improving how engineering work is delivered.
What You Will Do
* Deliver protection and control designs for zone substations and industrial substations
* Prepare drawings, calculations, settings and technical documentation to required standards
* Provide design reviews, approvals and technical leadership for secondary systems work
* Ensure all designs comply with Safety in Design, OH and S and Australian Standards
* Lead fault studies and protection setting calculations using industry software
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and prepare formal engineering reports
* Support engineering governance, policies and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications and Registrations
* Bachelor of Engineering Electrical
* Chartered Engineer CPEng or National Engineering Registration NER
* Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria RPEV
* Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland RPEQ desirable
* Professional Engineer registration under the Business Licensing Authority
* Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards, Safety in Design and regulatory frameworks
Key Skills and Experience
* Extensive experience in protection and control systems for substations and distribution networks
* Skilled in fault analysis using complex numbers and symmetrical components
* Proficient with DigSilent PowerFactory, PSSE or Sincal
* Experience specifying, configuring and reviewing protection relays from major suppliers
* Understanding of IEC 61850, SCADA systems and renewable generation integration
* Ability to mentor engineers, solve complex problems and influence design direction
* Strong communication skills and confidence working as a technical lead on major projects
