We are seeking an experienced Lead Solution Architect to join our growing National Security and Defence team in Canberra. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mainstream and emerging technologies and a flair for innovative approaches to business problems. Broad experience across networking and software will contribute to securing our nation.
Note: This role requires an NV2 security clearance, with a preference for TSPV clearance. Candidates with NV1 or NV2 willing to upgrade to NV2 or TSPV are encouraged to apply.
What You Will Do: Engage clients throughout the full solution lifecycle, from proposal to in-service realization. Define and lead the development of solution architectures in collaboration with design team members. Maintain overall ownership of solutions through delivery and transition into operation. Ensure designs meet key functional and non-functional requirements. Manage technical and solution risks, working to reduce and mitigate them early. Represent the work of engineering teams to local and global engineering executives. Lead early design and estimation efforts to understand potential costs and delivery timescales. Leverage BAE Systems' experience, IP, and expertise to deliver solutions and transfer capabilities to Australia. What We Are Looking For: Experience across security domains, cloud technologies (Azure and AWS), and systems engineering. Ability to advise clients and teams during delivery on complex solutions. Leadership skills to influence and guide analysts, developers, and engineers. Excellent communication skills. Experience with tender responses and pre-sales activities. Familiarity with delivery methodologies like Agile, Lean, and Waterfall. Experience working with government systems and stakeholders. 10+ years in networking, engineering, or software development, with 5+ years in architecture/design. Knowledge of architectural frameworks like TOGAF or Zachman. Mentoring experience with junior staff.
