Are you passionate about empowering communities and fostering meaningful connections? We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and motivated Community Projects Mentor to lead and inspire local and remote community initiatives in the Karratha regionand the Tom Price region

This role works closely with jobseekers, helping connect them with meaningful community-based activities and projects. You’ll play a key role in keeping people engaged, motivated, and moving towards their goals, while also supporting important community initiatives. Every day will be different, and you'll need to be hands-on, flexible, and ready to try new approaches.

About Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation

Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation (AAC) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation providing direct services to enable Aboriginal people to participate in employment and economic opportunities. With a presence in Perth and across the Pilbara region, our Head Office is based in Tom Price, WA. Our mission is to establish and maintain an environment that benefits people through the creation of culturally appropriate employment and enterprise opportunities, and the provision of education and training services throughout the Pilbara. Our footprint extends across much of the vast Pilbara region, and we have been successfully supporting the development of opportunities for Aboriginal people in the region for many years.

About the Role

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on:

Building Relationships: Engaging with diverse individuals and groups to create strong, supportive connections within the community.

Problem-Solving: Identifying challenges and developing innovative solutions to enhance community participation and support.

Facilitating Success: Assisting others in achieving their personal and professional goals through guidance, encouragement and creative thinking.

Community Engagement: Actively participating in and promoting local initiatives that benefit the broader community.

Some of your key tasks will include:

Visiting local communities to promote jobseeker participation.

Helping design and deliver community projects that spark interest and involvement.

Mentoring and motivating jobseekers to stay on track.

Thinking creatively to find new ways to boost engagement and outcomes.

Supporting jobseekers with practical help, including transport if needed.

Identifying barriers and connecting people with services that can help.

Building relationships with community groups, service providers, and employers.

Assisting with project planning, proposals, delivery, and reporting.

Selection Criteria

We are looking for someone who:

Is creative, adaptable, and enjoys problem-solving.

Has a strong work ethic and is reliable.

Works well with people from all backgrounds and communities.

Has great communication and mentoring skills.

Can work independently and as part of a team.

Has solid organisational and time management skills.

Holds a valid WA C class driver’s license.

Is comfortable travelling to local and remote communities.

Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities (not essential)

Trade or hands-on skills that can be shared in community projects (not essential)

Experience with not-for-profits or community development programs (not essential)
