We have 6 community libraries across our local government area: Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park, and Marsden Park Temporary Library. We also have a popular mobile library service. We offer a wide range of services to our community, including borrowing services, a digital library, study support services, technology workshops, and multicultural, children and youth services. About The Opportunity
We are seeking a Library Technician to join our team at Mt Druitt Library on a permanent, part‑time basis. As part of our Customer Service team, you will play an important role in creating positive experiences and fostering a welcoming environment for all library visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service to all library visitors, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Deliver high‑quality, community‑focused programs that engage and inspire diverse audiences.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support the smooth operation of library services.
- Assist customers in accessing the full range of library resources, including digital tools and online platforms.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with people from different backgrounds and age groups.
- Apply well‑developed technology skills to help customers navigate information systems and digital services.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, respectful, and family‑friendly environment within the library.
- Draw on knowledge of cultural trends to shape relevant programs and services that meet community needs.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
- Previous library experience.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to customer‑focused service.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work within a team environment and independently.
- Well‑developed problem‑solving skills.
- Relevant computer skills.
- Current class C driver’s licence.
- Working with Children Check number.
Desirable
- First aid certification.
- Ability to speak a community language.
Remuneration and Benefits
- Entry level salary starts at $1,362.15 per week, pro‑rata.
- 17.5 hour working week.
