About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as a Store Operations Manager in Cairns to provide outstanding service to our customers and partners through exceptional DIFOT service levels whilst managing 3PL & 4PL partners of choice. This role is accountable for the safe and efficient running of the day-to-day operations of the floor, while ensuring that customers are serviced through the correct dispatch of products, and/or through support at the front end of the store.

Additionally, the Store Operations Manager will involve actively participating in the recruitment and training of team members for these departments, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency throughout the store, and facilitating clear and effective communication both within the team and with customers.

In this Role

* Support the branch manager in all aspects of store operations, including budgets, inventory management, recruitment and customer service
* Develop and implement strategies to improve store performance and increase sales
* Lead the implementation of Metcash safety, health and environmental policies, systems, and strategies for their area of control.
* Monitor and analyze store performance metrics to identify areas for improvement
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and a first-class customer experience

You're Likely a Match If

* Skilled in managing 3PL and 4PL providers, negotiating transport tenders, and driving DIFOT performance.
* Prior experience with union EA negotiations and handling difficult conversations, including customer resolution.
* Strong understanding of P&L, forecasting, and workforce planning.
* Proven experience in people management, performance reviews, coaching, and mentoring.
* Adept at building and maintaining collaborative relationships internally and externally.
* Experienced in operational planning, including transport and workforce forecasting.
