Geologist Role Overview
The Project Geologist plays a crucial role in contributing to the successful planning, management and execution of exploration activities. This position requires a skilled individual to work with the Exploration Team, involved in various activities such as property-scale delineation, prioritisation and target testing using different methods within a greenfield environment.
Main Responsibilities:
* Lead by example and promote a safety-first culture, adhering to and sponsoring safety and environmental rules and procedures.
* Assist in the development of exploration programs and ensure they are successfully completed within approved parameters and consistent with good exploration practices.
* Undertake geological field work under the general direction of the Senior Project/Senior Geologist, including geologic mapping/logging, geophysical surveys, sampling, and drilling.
* Manage logistics, administration, and technical execution of projects with assistance from field technical staff.
* Apply appropriate methodologies to ensure technical practices and standards are accurate and met or exceeded.
* Supervise project execution, material risk, and hazard factors, taking corrective action as needed.
* Oversee the supervision of other geologists, technicians, field assistants, and contractors.
* Prepare comprehensive technical reports, maps, and presentation materials with clear target hypotheses, stated objectives, key decision points, results, conclusions, and recommendations.
* Maintain awareness of regional developments, including industry, government, and academic activities.
* Monitor lead/lag indicators of health and safety activities/conditions/incidents.
Requirements:
* A university degree or equivalent experience in geoscience or a related field is required.
* A minimum of 5 years of relevant geoscience experience, including exposure to mineral exploration in greenfields and/or brownfields environments.
* Specific experience in geologic mapping, core logging, geochemical, and geophysical applications is an asset.
* Proficient written and oral English communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse individuals.
* A proven track record of positively leading by example and managing small teams, including performance management and organisational skills.
* BASIC experience of general management practices in an applied technical environment.
* Solid understanding of one or more ore deposit types in copper, nickel, +/- zinc.
* Experience in community and government relations issues.
* Proficient experience with GIS and geological 3D modeling software including ArcPro and Leapfrog.
