More than two-thirds of the region's population of just over 6,000 identify as Aboriginal Australians, who reside in a collection of towns, communities, and outstations. Council provides a range of local government services to five towns and communities across five wards with many popular tourist destinations.
About the role
West Arnhem Regional Council seeks a seasoned Executive Assistant to provide senior-level support to the Mayor and CEO. In this role, based in Jabiru or Darwin, you will act as a trusted advisor and key point of contact to the CEO's office, managing complex diaries and competing priorities, coordinating key meetings, agendas and minutes, and preparing high-quality briefs and correspondence.
Requirements include extensive experience supporting executives, exceptional organisation and communication skills, sound judgement in handling confidential and sensitive matters, and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous communities.
About you
A highly experienced senior executive assistant with exceptional time management and attention to detail, confident in managing complex diaries, heavy workloads, and competing priorities in a governance environment.
A polished communicator with outstanding written and verbal skills, able to prepare high-quality reports, briefs, and correspondence, and engage professionally with councillors, executives, and community members.
Someone with proven judgement and experience in handling sensitive and confidential information, and in supporting high-stakes decision-making for the Mayor and CEO.
Highly proficient with technology, advanced Microsoft Office skills and strong IT capabilities, experienced in producing complex documents, and able to learn new systems and processes quickly.
A person with a strong understanding and appreciation of Indigenous culture and remote community life, who can build respectful relationships and work effectively in this context.
Current driver's licence.

* Remuneration Package $107,013 – $113,389 (including base salary $93,855 - $99,448)
