Job Description
QIC Real Estate is seeking a high impact Retail Delivery Manager to join our Canberra team in a role that blends stakeholder leadership, tenancy delivery excellence and ‐hands‐on project execution. This is a ‐career defining opportunity within one of Australia's leading institutional managers, supported by a planned handover to ensure continuity, clarity‐and confidence from day one.
About the Role
As our Retail Delivery Manager, you will lead the full lifecycle of tenancy delivery across our Canberra retail assets—coordinating design, construction, lessor works, defect management and stakeholder engagement to ensure each store launches successfully.
You will partner with centre management, leasing, design, development teams and external consultants to deliver tenancies on time, on budget and in line with QIC's quality and safety standards.
A structured handover period will support your transition, allowing you to build relationships, understand current workflows, and establish a strong foundation before taking full ownership.
About You
You are a project‐driven, detail‐oriented and retail‐curious professional who thrives in environments where no two days look the same. You enjoy being on site, working directly with tenants and contractors, and problem‐solving in real time.
This role will appeal to someone with:
Experience (or strong interest) in tenancy delivery, retail environments or property operations.
Confidence navigating drawings, plans, and construction requirements.
A collaborative style and the ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholder groups.
A passion for seeing retail spaces come to life and building exceptional customer and retailer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Managing end‐to‐end tenancy delivery for specialty retailers across allocated shopping centres.
Ensuring delivery aligns with approved design, leasing, financial and safety guidelines.
Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications, including architectural, structural, services and shopfront designs.
Overseeing cost estimates for lessor works and preparing subcontract tender documentation.
Managing multiple inspections across the tenancy lifecycle—from pre‐start to final handover.
Leading the defect management and rectification process.
Tracking milestones and ensuring all tenancy openings occur on schedule.
Facilitating design, delivery, site and technical meetings.
Building strong relationships with internal partners and external retailers, designers, fit‐out consultants and service providers.
Desired Background & Criteria
Qualifications in building, construction, architecture, engineering or related fields.
Minimum 3 years' experience in store design, tenancy delivery or retail property environments.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with strong attention to time, cost and quality.
Skilled at reading and interpreting drawings and documentation.
Understanding of building regulations, WHS, operational property requirements and construction sequencing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Outlook, Excel and other core delivery tools.
Attributes
Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder skills.
Practical, solutions‐focused and comfortable with on‐site activity.
Organised, detail‐driven and capable of managing fast‐paced workstreams.
Passionate about high‐quality retail environments and strong tenant experiences.
Team‐oriented and aligned with QIC's Standards of Excellence (communication, collaboration, accountability, stepping up).
Why Join QIC?
Be part of a leading institutional real estate platform shaping major Australian retail precincts
Enjoy a supportive hybrid working environment.
Benefit from a planned handover period to ensure your success.
Play a meaningful role in elevating the tenant and customer experience across a high‐performing Canberra asset.
Access strong professional development, internal collaboration and career progression opportunities .
