An exciting opportunity is available for a passionate and dedicated educator to join the leadership team as Head of Department at Mackay Northern Beaches State High School.
In this role, you will lead the wellbeing curriculum and support student wellbeing in alignment with school and departmentalinitiatives, while contributing to the delivery of the State Schools Division's vision for Year 7.
This will be achieved by developing and nurturing positive, high-quality relationships among Year 7 students, teachers, and stakeholders.

About the School
Mackay Northern Beaches State High School is the newest secondary school in Mackay, opening in 2013. The school is seeking a dedicated Head of Department to join the progressive Leadership team. This Year 7 Head of Year position will be suited to an energetic, agile and future-focused individual who has the ability to continue to provide an innovative and relevant approach to development of Junior school learners in the Year 7 cohort. Their practice needs to have a strong student-focused approach and ability to build strong professional relationships with students, teachers, parents and the community. As the Year 7 Head of Year, you will play a vital role in developing solid strategic practices for managing resources to achieve positive student learning outcomes.
Please note the school is part of the department's housing assistance incentive scheme.
As the Head of Department, you will:
* Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
* Participate in delivering the vision of Early Childhood and State Schools Division
* Develop the quality of teaching and learning
* Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.
The Head of Department is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Department, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
* Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
* Set high standards for student and staff performance.
* Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
* Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
* Be futures oriented and strategic.
