Main duties of the job

What You will Do

As a key member of our Decontamination team, you will:

* Work collaboratively to deliver a controlled, high quality decontamination service for reusable medical devices
* Ensure excellent standards throughout all stages of the decontamination process, supporting outstanding patient care
* Accurately record information to maintain a full trackandtrace system, ensuring safety and compliance
* Prioritise workload effectively with your team and internal clinical departments
* Follow our Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management System to ensure safe, consistent, and compliant operations

Job responsibilities

Purpose:To support clinical activity and excellence in patientsafety by providing a controlled Decontamination Service for reusable medical

The post holder will:

Work aspart of a team providing a controlled decontamination service, reprocessingreusable medical devices for Benenden

Hospital

Contributingto the clinical care of the patient by achieving standards of excellencethroughout all processes of decontamination

Accuraterecording of information to ensure a full track and traceability system.

Work with the team and internal customers to prioritiseworkload

Work in accordance with the departments StandardOperating Procedures and Quality Management System

KeyResult Areas

To reprocessreusable surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes including receipt,disassembly, manual cleaning, automated wash-disinfection, inspection,functionality testing, assembly, packing, sterilization and despatch

To operatedecontamination equipment safely and carry out routine daily tests as set outin the DS Planned Preventative Maintenance and periodic testing schedule

Use ofelectronic tracking and traceability system

To plan andprioritise workload with consideration to the DS team and the needs of theinternal customer and patients

Thereporting of resource issues to Deputy DS Manager or DS Manager

Accurateand timely reporting of breakdowns

Person SpecificationQualifications
* Knowledge and experience in the decontamination of reusable medical devices
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
* NVQ level 3/Technical Certificate Decontamination or equivalent level and knowledge and experience through decontamination training or willingness to undertake
* Working in a timely manner while achieving high levels of accuracy
* Be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs
