Latrobe Lifeskills is the only NDIS Registered Provider and Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to be based on a University campus in Australia.
We are based at two La Trobe University campuses (Bundoora and Bendigo) with a rich history of supporting people with disability since our establishment in 1998.
Activities and supports include creative, recreational and life skills development, pre-employment and educational programs, both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis.

About the role
You will be part of an enthusiastic, energetic and talented team focusing on supporting people with disability. You will play a key leadership role, liaising, consulting and networking with external services, providing support to participants, families/carers and staff to participate in and maintain activities to achieve participants individual goals.
You will have a direct hands-on role including the development of new programs and supports including networking and operational administrative responsibilities.
The Team Leader role reports directly to the Participant Support Manager.
This is a full time role, Monday - Friday, on site.
Key Responsibilities & Scope
Maintaining a safe work environment for the Participants and staff members, under health and safety guidelines
Respond to communication from internal/external services families and carers in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
Maintain and build relationships with existing participants and key referrers such as Support Coordinators, Educators and Allied Health Professionals
Support Participants and their families to understand and access services
Contribute to the ongoing development of Programs of Support and Services
Communicate with and support staff to deliver Programs of Support to participants to achieve and maintain a high quality of service
Provide face-to-face support to participants when required
Rostering of direct support staff
Coordinate, monitor, mentor and support of individual staff members
Ensure relevant client information is obtained accurately and kept up to date
Assist to deliver Participant-centred Services and supports ensuring a safe environment ensuring a quality and safeguarding approach to service delivery
Represent Latrobe Lifeskills at Expos providing information to families, school leavers and Support Coordinators
Monitor and report incidents and complaints
Use of administrative Systems, procedures and processes to support effective management of all areas of Service Delivery
Consult network and liaise with external organisations and representatives.
Essential skills and experience:
Bundoora's Head Office, Metro Melbourne and within the City of Greater Bendigo as required
Previous experience as a Disability Support Worker
A Certificate IV in Disability and/or relevant tertiary degree/recognised qualification in the field of disability/human services
Ability to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationships with staff, participants, families, and external parties (Eg. Schools and Support Coordinators).
Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication with NDIS participants/families and carers
Knowledge of NDIS Plans and Service Agreements
Demonstrated understanding of Abuse and Neglect
Understanding and knowledge of Quality and Safeguarding Framework and standards
Computer literacy - including Microsoft Office suite and Supportability
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Excellent communication written and verbal skills – required for report/note/email writing and the ability to engage professionally with staff, clients, families and external organisations
A team player
Flexible and organised.
Desirable skills and attributes:
Experience as a Team Leader within disability service provision, supporting staff to deliver services to people with disability in group-based settings.
Proven leadership skills demonstrating the ability to support and guide staff.
Experience in conflict management and resolution.

You have the right to work in Australia and possess the necessary documentation
Current NDIS Working Screening Check
Current Driver's License (manual preferred)
Valid Working with Children Check
International Police Check (as required) if you have resided internationally for 12 months or more in the past ten years.
Hourly rate is based on the appropriate SCHADS - SACS award.
