We value diversity, empower people to amplify their voice, and focus on inclusive outcomes.A career with Viva Energy is about growing and evolving with us, contributing to energy and convenience solutions for Australians.Job DescriptionRole: Cloud Linux Engineer / Red Hat Linux Engineer with a focus on automation, infrastructure-as-code, and Azure technologies.Focus: Design, build, and maintain scalable Azure infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and other cloud-native tools; manage Azure services (NSGs, Private Endpoints, Key Vaults, Storage Accounts); apply cloud best practices in architecture, performance, and security.Key ResponsibilitiesRed Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administration: Deploy, configure, and maintain RHEL instances in on-premise and Azure environments, including subscription management and system registration.Automation with Ansible: Design and implement automation workflows for configuration management, application deployment, and system updates across Red Hat environments.Security Hardening and Compliance: Apply Red Hat security guidelines, implement policies, manage firewalls, and ensure compliance with standards (e.g., CIS, PCI-DSS).
Patch Management and Kernel Updates: Automate patching of RHEL systems, including kernel upgrades, using tools like Red Hat Satellite or Azure Automation.Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Use tools such as systemd, tuned, and Red Hat Insights to monitor, optimize, and address capacity or stability concerns.Azure Compute Management: Manage and optimize Azure compute resources (VMs, container services, serverless), including provisioning, monitoring, scaling, and troubleshooting.Identity and Access Management (IAM): Manage Azure resources, security policies, Azure AD integration, roles, and secure access controls.Automation and DevOps: Promote Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform, Azure DevOps or similar) for provisioning, configuration, and deployment pipelines.Performance Optimization and Cost Management: Monitor and optimize compute, implement auto-scaling, and improve performance and cost efficiency.QualificationsExperienced Linux / Cloud Engineer in complex, hybrid, enterprise-scale environments; cloud platforms, network/comms, multi-site infrastructures, and edge computing.3-5 years as a Linux Cloud engineer with Red Hat Linux or equivalent experience.Provision, configure, and maintain Linux VMs and resources in Azure with high availability, security, and performance.Automate deployment, monitoring, patching, and optimization of Linux OS and services using IaC tools (Terraform, Azure RM).
