Primary objective
Provide high level proactive and timely advice on Emergency Management and Work Health Safety (WHS) matters, including
ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines for Big Rivers Region NT Health.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate across the region the emergency management and work health safety system (implementation, monitoring and
review) to ensure emergency management requirements align to the relevant legislation and/or policies.
1. Provide the appropriate guidance and support to managers and staff on all work health safety matters that ensures compliance
while promoting strategies to improve work health safety performance.
1. Coordinates, in collaboration with relevant managers to establish business continuity arrangements across Katherine Hospital
and Big Rivers Region.
1. Build and sustain positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
2. Deliver training in Emergency Management and Aggression Management in line with NT Health procedures and guidelines.
Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
1. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
2. Ability to work outside of normal business hours and as part of an on-call Emergency Management Duty roster.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated recent senior level experience in the coordination of emergency management and work health safety systems.
2. Excellent interpersonal communication and coordination skills with the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse
cultures.
3. Proven ability to independently draft, review and finalise plans/policies/procedures or other documents to a high standard.
4. Demonstrated ability to deliver training in WHS, Emergency Management and Business Continuity as a subject matter expert.
5. Proven ability to think autonomously and seek alternative options; to recommend, implement and promote appropriate
solutions.
6. Actively support and lead organisational change by engaging relevant stakeholders, communicating with transparency and
honesty.
7. Shows initiative and adapts quickly to changes in priorities, responsibilities and the work environment.
Desirable
1. Formal Qualification in Emergency Management and/or WHS.
2. Formal Qualifications in Training and Assessment.
