Support Safe Patient Care in Endoscopy | QEII Hospital
Metro South Health is seeking an Operating Theatre Assistant to join the Endoscopy team at QEII Jubilee Hospital. This permanent full time OO3 role provides essential operational support in theatre, ensuring safe patient transfers, clean procedure environments, and efficient set-up of surgical equipment and consumables.
Your new role:
As an Operating Theatre Assistant (Endoscopy), you will play a vital role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of endoscopy services. Working within the theatre support team, you will assist surgical staff, prepare and maintain procedure rooms, and contribute to high-quality patient care and outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and setting up procedure rooms with required equipment and consumables
- Assisting with safe patient transfers between waiting, procedure, and recovery areas
- Cleaning and maintaining endoscopy rooms, change areas, and associated spaces
- Removing waste and soiled linen in accordance with infection control protocols
- Supporting the surgical team during procedures under supervision and approved guidelines
- Maintaining accurate departmental documentation and participating in training activities
- Ensuring safe handling of patients, equipment, and materials at all times

The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII) is a medium metropolitan adult facility providing a range of inpatient and outpatient services including a 24-hour Emergency Department. We provide a range of services, including surgery, cardiology, endoscopy, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, geriatric, respiratory and emergency medicine.
