We are partnering with a QLD Govt Dept on the Sunshine Coast to source an experienced Communications Officer (AO4). Based at Buderim, you will actively participate as a member of the Communications Delivery Team to ensure effective outcomes for regional projects. You will be required to advise on, develop, implement and monitor a range of high quality and timely communications services relating to community engagement, stakeholder relationship management, reputational and issues management, media relations, executive correspondence and internal communications for projects in the design, construction and maintenance phases on a large infrastructure program for North Coast Region. This is a three-year contract with 12-month extension possible.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Provide advice and support to regional staff on communication strategies for key stakeholder and community engagement on infrastructure projects in the design, construction and maintenance phases using appropriate communication tools
* Research, gather information and write articles for various project materials, including newsletters, construction notifications, webpage content, online engagement information, reporting
* Coordinate and write media statements, responses to media enquiries, speech notes and other communications materials for the Minister's office and senior management.
* Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Ensure appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to
Ideally you will have the following skills and experience:
* A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence
* Qualifications are not mandatory however a degree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing would be highly desirable. Preferably International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) in Engagement.
* Understanding of Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia framework and how it applies to infrastructure projects.
* Experience in a communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector, will be highly regarded
