We are partnering with a well-established mining operation to recruit an experienced Senior Site Accountant for a 6-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to transition into a permanent role. This position plays a critical role in supporting site financial performance and providing backfill support to senior finance leadership.
This is a hands-on, site-based role offering exposure to senior commercial decision-making and the opportunity to work closely with operational and leadership teams in a dynamic mining environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Superintendent or Finance Manager, you will lead key financial activities across site, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cost control and business improvement initiatives. You will also provide backfill support to the Finance Superintendent as required, making this an ideal opportunity for a senior finance professional looking to step into a broader leadership focused role.
Key Responsibilities
Support and backfill the Finance Superintendent role as required
Coordinate and prepare site inputs for monthly accounting and reporting cycles
Prepare detailed cost reports and analysis, providing proactive cost management support
Facilitate departmental cost meetings and follow up on variances with accountable stakeholders
Lead cost reduction initiatives, business improvement projects and financial process optimisation
Prepare monthly and quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
Develop and maintain financial models, including Xeras modelling
Support preparation of monthly performance reports and site leadership presentations
Assist with interim and year-end audit requirements
Deliver commercial and financial training to operational stakeholders
Support capital applications including NPV calculations, forecasting, budgeting and asset capitalisation
Undertake additional duties as required to support the broader commercial team
About You
Proven experience in a senior site accounting or operational finance role
Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, cost control and financial reporting
Experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing operational stakeholders
Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability
Strong Excel and financial modelling skills, with Xeras experience highly regarded
Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
Confident communicator with a collaborative and proactive working style
