The Opportunity
The Community Wellbeing and Education Manager leads the strategic review, design, development and statewide scaling of AWLQ's wellbeing and education programs. The role focuses on innovatively embedding AWLQ's content into the Australian Curriculum, so it is relevant, teacher‐ready and accessible to educators across Queensland and beyond. You will be responsible for championing contemporary, inclusive teaching and promoting empathy, emotional literacy and One Health/One Welfare principles to strengthen animal care practices and human wellbeing. The role builds purposeful partnerships with schools, education bodies, councils, youth wellbeing and community support services to advocate program adoption and impact. The Manager leads a team of educators and facilitators to deliver high‐quality learning resources and outcomes, embracing innovation, integrity, compassion and optimism!
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Direction
Provide leadership and strategic direction for AWLQ's community wellbeing and education programs portfolio. Develop and implement a long‐term roadmap that strengthens reach, quality and curriculum relevance across Queensland.
Program Development & Alignment
Lead the review, design, implementation and continuous improvement of AWLQ wellbeing and education programs and resources (digital and in‐person where required) to support learning and wellbeing outcomes. Map AWLQ program content to the Australian Curriculum (and relevant state/sector frameworks) to create teacher‐ready units, lesson plans and assessment‐aligned resources. Ensure initiatives are tailored to diverse audiences (families, pet owners, community groups, disadvantaged communities).
Strategic Partnerships & Sector Collaboration
Build and sustain purposeful partnerships that support program adoption and impact schools, educators, youth services, community organisations, support services, universities, training providers, and all other providers and professional networks. Co‐design initiatives with partners to deepen alignment with community priorities and increase program accessibility and impact. Engage with community and education stakeholders to promote program uptake and to keep resources aligned with contemporary curriculum expectations and student wellbeing priorities.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
Manage, support and develop a team of educators and facilitators, including coaching, supervision and professional development. Guide workload planning and prioritisation to balance strategic development with delivery requirements and organisational needs.
Educator Support, Implementation & Quality Assurance
Support the implementation of AWLQ community wellbeing and education programs through educator guidance, resource orientation and responsive communication channels.
Resource & Content Development
Oversee the creation of high‐quality digital and print resources that reflect evidence‐informed practice and AWLQ's One Health/One Welfare approach. Ensure materials are accessible and inclusive to all.
Essential Qualifications And Experience
* Demonstrated experience leading education program development, curriculum‐aligned resource creation and/or learning design at scale.
* Proven success in reviewing and improving education programs, using evidence, feedback and outcomes data to drive continuous improvement.
* Experience in animal welfare, prevention‐focused education, public health, wellbeing, or One Health/One Welfare‐aligned programs (highly desirable).
* Strong leadership and people management capability, including coaching, supervision and development of educators or program staff.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive partnerships with educators, schools and sector stakeholders.
* Experience developing or overseeing digital education resources or platforms to improve accessibility and consistency of learning.
* Understanding of inclusive, trauma‐informed and empathy‐based learning approaches that support respectful, strengths‐based education.
* Familiarity with the Australian Curriculum and/or state curriculum/syllabus requirements, including resource mapping and learning outcomes alignment.
* Ability to use data and insights to inform program planning, evaluation, reporting and strategic decision‐making.
* Current driver's licence and willingness to work across locations where required for program implementation and stakeholder engagement.
