Are you a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced transport and logistics environment? We're on the hunt for a reliable and motivated Team Leader to support our operations team and ensure the smooth, safe and efficient running of our day-to-day activities.
About the Role:
As the Team Leader, you'll be the go-to person on the floor – coordinating team members, managing workflow, and ensuring all tasks are completed safely and on time. You'll work closely with supervisors and management to deliver high standards in service and safety.
What You'll Do:
* Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of drivers and warehouse personnel, ensuring high levels of performance, safety, and productivity.
* Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
* Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop daily schedules, routes, and assignments for drivers and warehouse staff.
* Monitor the progress of shipments, deliveries, and pickups, ensuring timely execution and addressing any operational issues that may arise.
* Allocate resources effectively to optimize operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
* Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, including the proper handling, storage, and transportation of goods.
* Oversee the accurate loading, unloading, and inspection of shipments, confirming that goods are in the desired condition and meet quality standards.
* Serve as a point of contact between drivers, staff, and management, fostering clear and effective communication.
* Collaborate with various departments, such as procurement and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination of operations.
* Identify and address operational challenges, such as route deviations, vehicle breakdowns, or scheduling conflicts, in a timely and effective manner.
* Maintain records of operational activities, such as delivery times, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules.
* Generate reports on key performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvements.
What You Bring:
* Previous experience in a similar role within transport or logistics
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Forklift licence (LF) – required
* Sound understanding of WHS practices
* Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
