Job Opportunity
The Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking a motivated, reliable, and eager-to-learn trainee to join our Resource Recovery team. This exciting opportunity provides full-time, paid work while working towards a Certificate III in Waste Management.
You will support the day-to-day operations of Council's waste facilities, including landfill services and customer support. Your responsibilities will include machine operation, site maintenance, and general landfill tasks, all while delivering high-quality service to the community. This hands-on experience, combined with formal training, will help launch a meaningful career in environmental and community-focused work.
Requirements
* A willingness to learn and a positive attitude
* Sound written and verbal communication skills
* Teamwork skills and the capacity to work in a hands-on, outdoor environment
* Basic computer literacy to support training and on-the-job tasks
* The ability to complete a Nationally Recognised Qualification (Certificate III in Waste Management) within 24 months
* Commitment to undertaking the requirements of the associated qualification
* A minimum Queensland C Class provisional driver's licence or eligibility and willingness to obtain one within 6 months of commencement
* A General Construction Induction Card (White Card), or willingness to obtain prior to commencement

Eligibility Criteria
* Be at least 17 years of age
* Meet citizen, residency, and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship
* Not hold a qualification equal to or higher than the traineeship qualification in the same field
