The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic applicant for the position of Bus Driver and Maintenance Officer in the facilities team with United NT Disability Services. You will work closely with management in delivering transport, gardening and maintenance services.
The role is broken into three key areas:
Bus Driver
Grounds Keeper (Gardener)
Maintenance (Handyman)
We are seeking applications from experienced persons who have a passion for helping people with a disability in delivery of such services. Applicants must be reliable, task orientated with have a positive attitude.
This is a full-time position with 38 hours per week, which may include some weekend hours from time to time. The days of working will depend on bus transportation schedule and property activities. A high degree of flexibility is required.
Bus Driver
United NTDS has several buses in our fleet with numerous community access appointments scheduled throughout the week. The successful applicant will be responsible for the safe transportation of our participants and support workers to and from residential houses in the Palmerston and Darwin area.
Grounds Keeper / Gardener
This position is responsible for the gardening and upkeep of the aesthetic environment of the SIL houses in accordance with the gardening maintenance schedule, this includes:
Lawns and gardens are cared for, maintained and upgraded pursuant to the schedule. Garden maintenance includes mowing, pruning, gutter cleaning, hedge trimming, weeding, mulching, replanting, fertilising, fawn removal
Attend to all gardening work requests and in accordance with schedule
Document and report completed work requests or issue further work requests
Clean and maintain pool and pool area in accordance with procedures.
Maintenance / Handyman
This position is responsible for general maintenance and routine care of the SIL houses, this includes repairs on the houses such as to door hinges, fences, gates, assembling of furniture flat packs, changing light globes, fix handrails, door handles, hanging pictures or message boards, and other minor works.
The successful applicant will also:
attend to and action all maintenance requests whilst undertaking preventive maintenance activities for all SIL properties across Darwin
ensure all SIL properties are free from rubbish, debris and are safe for our participants and employees
report all breakdowns in equipment and keep records
undertake regular audits and inspections on facility equipment, the grounds and houses to ensure there are no work, health and safety issues
complete required documentation for completion of work requests
Qualifications
Current NT Driver's Licence (C Class + Manual required)
NDIS Clearance Screening Check (or willingness to apply for one)
National Police Check with current 5-year driving history record (no more than 3 months old)
Current First Aid and CPR certificate

Positive and friendly personality
Ability to drive both a manual and automatic transmission buses
Relevant experience working in grounds, garden and handyman roles
Ability to work independently or in a team
Understand Work, Health and Safety practices
Utility vehicle, tools and trailer will be supplied.
