Role Description
As a full time Senior Accountant in our Shepparton office, you will manage a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering expert tax compliance, advisory, and business services. You'll work closely with partners and colleagues to ensure exceptional client outcomes, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the firm's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Prepare and review income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and SMSFs.
- Prepare and review financial statements in line with Australian Accounting Standards.
- Provide proactive tax planning and business advisory services to clients.
- Mentor, train, and review the work of junior and intermediate accountants.
- Liaise directly with clients, building strong relationships and providing timely updates.
- Communicate with the ATO and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients.
- Stay up to date with changes in tax legislation and accounting standards, sharing insights with the team.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Manage workflow, prioritise tasks, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Monitor client accounts, support debtor management, and meet agreed KPIs.
- Maintain accurate timesheets and adhere to firm policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA/CA qualified (or near completion).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in public practice accounting.
- Robust technical knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Professional integrity and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
