Primary objective
Act as the first point of contact for regional leadership matters, provide high level advice and support about the provision of DCDD services
in the Katherine region, with a focus on workforce services, through a client-focused enterprise model, to Northern Territory Public Sector
agencies. Leading a small team in the Katherine region, act as the strategic link between client agencies, DCDD and Workforce Services,
Corporate Services and Digital Services and act as the first point of contact for emergency management, building management and Big
Rivers government Centre WHS matters.
Context statement
Workforce, corporate and digital services are delivered to client agencies under a centralised services arrangement by the Department of
Corporate and Digital Development –this position is the lead for Katherine Workforce Services.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Deliver regionally focussed emergency management and building management support to the Katherine region.
1. Manage a team, provide consistent performance feedback and ensure expertise is provided to clients in a timely manner.
2. Develop and maintain effective partnerships with clients and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of business objectives.
3. Provide high level workforce relations and development advice, guidance and coaching to clients across a range of workforce matters.
4. Case manage complex workplace issues such as disputes/grievances, discipline, medical, investigations and inability, recommending
appropriate courses of action for resolution and early intervention strategies.
6. Provide recruitment, change management and organisational design advice and support to agencies consistent with best practice and
aligned to legislative frameworks.
7. Triage case management/workload within the team, managing timeframes and take the lead in more complex matters.
8. Collaborate in the development of contemporary HR management strategies, policies, procedures and internal documentation aligned
to corporate objectives, legislation and public sector initiatives.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive demonstrated experience and contemporary knowledge of strategic HR management and organisational effectiveness.
1. High level communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to establish collaborative relationships at all levels to
positively influence human resource practices.
3. Demonstrated planning, problem solving and organisational skills, including the effective management of multiple complex and high
priority tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.
4. Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to interpret and apply legislation.
5. Highly developed written skills with demonstrated experience reviewing the work of subordinate staff to ensure accurate,
comprehensive correspondence for client agencies.
1. Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team in a multi-skilled, client focussed HR enterprise service environment.
2. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, innovative and
respectful.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources or a related field.
2. Knowledge and understanding of employment legislation as it relates to Northern Territory Government employees or ability to obtain.
