Yellagundgimarra Hospital Doomadgee is a Level 2 remote hospital under the Rural and Remote Clinical Services Capability Framework. The facility provides 24-hour acute inpatient and accident and emergency care. Culturally appropriate care is provided by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers, nursing, medical, administration and operational staff. 
About the role 
The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) assists and supports the Registered Nurse (RN) in the provision of direct/indirect person-centred care within Yellagundgimarra Hospital Doomadgee as required. The AIN is responsible for providing nursing care in a professional, safe, and compassionate manner as a member of the healthcare team according to their education and competence. 
- This role assists the RN to effectively assess, plan and implement individual patient care and with the routine functioning of the ward/unit including escalation of patient care issues and concerns. 
- Responsible for accepting delegated tasks/duties which require basic skills, training, and experience. 
- Gather information about patient care needs by observing the patient and reporting to the RN to assist the RN to assess, plan and evaluate care. 
- Demonstrate positive team involvement and responsible for effective and compassionate verbal communication to patients and team members. 
Requirements 
- A Certificate III relevant to the clinical area is highly regarded. 
- This position is required to undertake shift work covering 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 
- The position may involve travel to various facilities or units within the North West Hospital and Health Service. 
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks. 
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis. 
- A period of probation may apply.
