Job Title: Alternate Underground Manager
We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to lead our underground mining operations. As an ASX 50 global-scale gold miner, we have sizeable operations in Western Australia and Alaska.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of successfully managing and supervising operational and technical services teams. They will be responsible for directly controlling and managing the team to safely achieve business plans, preparing forecasts and developing mining strategies with assistance from geology and production engineering departments.
The role requires strong leadership skills, including communication, coaching, training, and regular appraisals. The successful candidate will also be responsible for championing a safety-first culture by proactively identifying and mitigating mining risks.
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex information effectively to management and site visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Directly control, manage, and supervise the operational and technical services team.
* Prepare forecasts and develop mining strategy with assistance from geology and production engineering departments.
* Manage and direct the underground technical team to produce plans and designs in line with the 12-week mining schedule.
* Maintain regular communication with mine personnel to share updates, direction, and performance targets.
* Develop personnel directly reporting to this position through coaching, training, and regular appraisals.
* Demonstrate strong leadership through well-developed communication skills, including managing for performance and the ability to communicate mining operations information to management and site visitors.
* Champion a safety-first culture by proactively identifying and mitigating mining risks.
* Analyse and report on mining operational performance to identify any early interventions required to maintain performance.
