Aboriginal Advanced Case Manager – Bendigo
* Job Function: Prison and Corrective Services
* Work Type: Ongoing - full time
Overview

Ongoing, full‐time role based in Bendigo. Make a difference in reducing over‐representation of Aboriginal people in the criminal justice system and join a supportive and collaborative team.

This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.

Are you passionate about supporting Aboriginal people in the justice system and ready to take the lead in driving change? We are looking for a committed and culturally knowledgeable Aboriginal Advanced Case Manager to join our team and help create safer, stronger communities—one person at a time.

In this vital role, you will work with Aboriginal and non‐Aboriginal clients, supporting individuals with complex needs and those who have committed serious offences. Using a strengths‐based, culturally informed approach, you will guide them through their rehabilitation journey and contribute to positive outcomes for the broader community.

You will also play a key role in shaping how we support Aboriginal clients—providing expert advice, developing cultural support plans, and working closely with Aboriginal organisations and the Koori Court.

Responsibilities
* Delivering meaningful case management for Aboriginal and non‐Aboriginal clients, focused on behaviour change and completing correctional orders.
* Creating tailored cultural support plans to meet the specific needs of Aboriginal clients.
* Assessing risk factors and developing individualised case plans that support rehabilitation and reduce re‐offending.
* Providing expert advice to senior leaders and community‐based teams on culturally safe and effective approaches to working with Aboriginal clients.
* Building strong partnerships with Aboriginal organisations and support services to improve access to culturally appropriate resources.
* Attending Koori Court to provide advice and support where needed.
About You

We are seeking someone who brings a deep understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community, strong case‐management skills, and a genuine passion for supporting others.

* Proven ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people and communities.
* Strong knowledge of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in the justice system.
* Experience applying evidence‐based case‐management frameworks, especially with individuals with complex needs.
* Ability to translate theory into practice—identifying risk, planning interventions, and supporting behaviour change.
* Mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
Why Join Us?

This is more than just a job—it's a chance to make a real difference in people's lives and work towards a more just, inclusive system. You will be part of a dedicated and culturally respectful team, supported to grow and thrive in your role.

Benefits & Conditions
* A fair salary with yearly increases in line with the VPS agreement.
* Generous leave entitlements.
* Comprehensive training when you commence and throughout your career.

This is an Aboriginal Prioritised position, a role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. For Aboriginal Designated and Prioritised positions, a Certificate of Aboriginality (CoA) will be required prior to an offer of employment being made.
