About the Position
This position is responsible for providing high quality training at all levels within the security service targeting identified training gaps in all aspects of the security team roles. It includes involvement in the onboarding of new employees and the return to work process to ensure employees are supported to return to full duties. The Security Educator role encompasses all sites with operational security resources and plays a key part in meeting security operational needs including:
* Security capacity and capability;
* Emergency responses;
* Resource management;
* Compliance and Audit
About the Role
Join our team as a Security Educator in a part time (4 days/ week), ongoing role working from the Kingston Centre across a variety of sites in the South Eastern Suburbs. This is a new role in the Security team and will require the selected applicant to be innovative, forward thinking and proactive to develop the Security education area. The role will require you to:
* Provide security-related induction and training for new employees during their onboarding process to establish a robust culture of security consciousness and accountability
* Ensure all security employees understand the organisation's policies, procedures, as well as the security specific standard operational procedures
* Understanding and maintaining compliance to the legislated and legal frameworks which requires compliance with privacy and confidentiality practices (IE: ID cards / use of security technology in the workplace IE: CCTV, BWC etc.)
* Provide training that reflects the organisation's commitment to creating a safe environment for both staff and the broader community
* Develop and implement a security learning strategy with KPI's for the organisation. Present an annual learning and development plan that supports the achievement of the strategy
* Design, develop and maintain security related courses within the Learning Management System to support Monash Health employees. This includes ensuring content is up-to-date, engaging, and aligned with the organisation's security policies, compliance requirements, and best practice
* Provide expert guidance on updating and ensuring compliance in all security policies and procedures
* Increase Monash Health security departments capability and profile within the organisation
The successful applicant will be required to travel across sites and work various shifts to ensure the 24/7 workforce is captured.
About Us
Security services is part of the Hospitals and Sites division and has input across all areas of the organisation. The security services program is broken into two distinct area - Operations and Systems. This role will predomainatly work with the operations area and will report to the Security Operations Manager. The Security team consists of approxiamately 120 positions across 13 sites including 8 hospitals and a number of smaller comunity sites with both inpatient and out pateint servcies.
About You
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
* Minimum three years' experience as an operational security officer
* Previous experience in a security training role including developing, writing and presenting training courses
* Background in hospital based security operations including broad knowledge of electronic security systems (access control and CCTV), two way radio systems, fire and alarm panel response, conflict resolution and negotiation, de-escalation techniques and a demonstrated ability to control violent and aggressive persons
* High level customer service skills with a demonstrated customer focus and ability to build positive relationships with other employees, visitors and patients
* Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and influencing skills and the demonstrated ability to build and develop relationships with key stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to display empathy and understanding in a healthcare environment
* Demonstrated ability to work by yourself or as part of a team
* Demonstrated ability to follow organisational policies and procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and a demonstrated high quality and proactive work ethic
* Exhibit knowledge and application of conflict resolution techniques
Mandatory requirements of the role - qualifications, licences, memberships,
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
* Certificate III in Security Operations Unarmed Guarding and Crowd Control (obtained prior to January 2010) or a CPP07 Certificate II - Unarmed Guard and Crowd Control (obtained after January 2010)
* Current Victorian Security Guard and Crowd Controller Licence
* Current Victorian Drivers Licence (open or green provisional licences only)
