The RoleReporting to the R&D Centre Manager, the Product Laboratory Team Lead is a hands-on technical leadership role that combines active laboratory testing with day-to-day team leadership.You will remain directly involved in testing while coordinating daily activities, supporting technicians, assisting with scheduling and prioritisation, and ensuring all testing meets the highest technical, quality and safety standards.This role is ideal for an experienced laboratory technician ready to step into leadership without stepping away from the bench.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and coordinate product testing activitiesLead daily testing operations, including task allocation and prioritisationConduct and review testing, analysis and reporting with clear recommendationsSupport training, onboarding and capability development of techniciansEnsure compliance with NATA-level practices, accreditation requirements and internal proceduresAssist with laboratory audits, equipment checks and calibrationsIdentify and implement new testing methods, equipment and technologiesMaintain safe operating procedures and compliance with WHS and 6S principlesCollaborate with internal stakeholders on R&D, product development and commercialisation projectsAspects of this role require regular manual handling, including lifting and moving equipment and test items as required.
About YouQualification in laboratory techniques or a related disciplineExperience in laboratory testing within a product development or manufacturing environmentExposure to NATA-accredited laboratory practices (highly regarded)Strong hands-on technical skills (mechanical, product or materials testing)Experience guiding, supporting or leading others in a technical settingStrong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workHigh attention to detail and structured approach to documentationStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft OfficeUnderstanding of ISO 17025 (desirable)Ability to safely undertake manual handling tasks
