Duties Maintain security of premises by preventing and detecting signs of intrusion to preserve order and protection of property. Respond to resident after hours requests and problem solving. Liaise with external parties where necessary; police, other hostels and homeless shelters. Monitor and authorise entrance of residents, staff and visitors in accordance with the policy and procedure. Required Current Cert lll / lV or equivalent in Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, Child and Family Intervention, preferred or extensive experience with sound Knowledge and skills in working with children and family issues. OR 2 years of relevant experience in social services field. Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and their cultures, and a general understanding of the issues that are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary Australian society. Experience in managing complex situations is sought after. Demonstrated experience in working sensitively with women and children. Demonstrated ability in responding to family crisis. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the application of a variety of hostel management procedures and processes. Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and deescalate volatile situations. Ability to support and manage a continuous improvement model for achieving improved ways of working at JWH. Decisive listening, influencing and persuasive skills. Demonstrated ability in accurate note talking and filing. Experience with Intake. Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply. Current drivers' licence. Valid police check.
