Working for a NSW Government event, you will be the social media specialist in a contract role until July.
Your new role
You will be responsible for managing and driving the production and publication of engaging social content and the day-to-day management of social media channels for the events campaign. The role provides specialist advice and support to staff on social media and marketing campaigns, including liaison with external agencies, determining social media options to meet corporate and campaign objectives, timeframes and budgets, and the needs of the tourism industry. The role assists in managing the content calendar, coordinating with external agencies, and delivering solutions that meet consumer marketing objectives on time and on budget.
Seeking a highly hands‑on Social Media Specialist to drive the festival's social presence across all platforms. This role is fast‑paced, creative, and deeply connected to what's happening culturally and digitally in real time.
Managing day‑to‑day publishing across all social platforms, ensuring content is accurate, on brand and timely.
Maintaining and updating content calendars, and supporting the rollout of major social media campaigns.
Collaborating closely with the content and production teams to create, brief and deliver engaging social content.
Staying attuned to trends, cultural moments and platform updates to keep content fresh, relevant and reactive.
Working effectively in a dynamic, festival‑driven environment with multiple moving parts and tight deadlines.
Using social media management tools (e.g., Sprout, Hootsuite, or similar) to schedule content, monitor performance and track engagement.
What you'll need to succeed
Experience supporting social media activity across major platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube), ideally for brands or organisations with large-scale audiences.
Demonstrated ability to schedule, publish, and optimise content using social media management tools (e.g. Sprinklr and Meta Business Suite).
Understanding of audience engagement techniques and hands-on experience in community management, including comment moderation and escalation procedures.
Rich knowledge of best practice in social media crisis management, with experience supporting timely and appropriate responses in high-pressure or high-visibility situations.
Familiarity with interpreting platform insights and analytics to help evaluate content performance and inform future planning.
Strong understanding of social media content formats, trends, tone of voice, and brand consistency across channels.
Experience following brand, legal, and governance frameworks in a regulated or publicly accountable environment.
