Provide clinical leadership and expertise at a high practice level for the provision and coordination of evidenced-based consumer-centred care in accordance with organisational goals. Be responsible for delegated operational management, workforce development and capacity building initiatives to coordinate work unit service delivery. Contribute to the development of a continuum of comprehensive care responsive to the diverse mental health needs of consumers and their families within the Gold Coast community. Please note: This role can also be filled by an Occupational Therapist/Psychologist or Social Worker - Senior as per the Role Description. The Role An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Mental Health - Acute Care Team) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia. You will Provide efficient, responsive and recovery-orientated mental health care in a variety of hospital and community settings Provide intensive, developmentally-appropriate, consumer-centred, mental health interventions and ongoing assessments for consumers who require high intensity services Apply independent professional judgement, based on valid and reliable evidence Contribute to the development of clinical practice procedures and protocols About you To be successful in this position you will require: A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing) A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable Driver Licence Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost) Benefits Flexible work options Career Development Salary Packaging Modern Facilities Diverse Work Culture Research Opportunities 12.75% super 17.5% leave loading Salary Temporary full time (up to 12 October 2025, with the possibility of extension) Base salary ranging from $5 081.10 - $5 516.60 per fortnight About Us The Acute Care Treatment Team (ACT) provide 24 hour, 7 day a week specialist mental health care service. This team's role is to be the first point of contact for the GCHHS Mental Health Service to provide education, support, information, advice and referral. ACT is a mobile assertive outreach crisis response team that offers a range of short-term options tailored to meet individual needs in the community which may also include acute care in the immediate post discharge phase of an inpatient admission.
