Network Design Engineer Position
**Job Description:**
The Digital Modernization Sector seeks a Network Design Engineer to perform network engineering, design, analysis, and installation. This position will provide support for computer data communications network systems by providing engineering specifications, modifications, and inspections for computer networks to include planning and implementing upgrades as well as analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software to design combined engineering solutions through network modeling.
**Responsibilities:**
Support the installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices.
Respond to and resolve incident tickets
Draft and implement standard network change requests
Provide support to senior network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, Technical Exchange Meetings, and coordinate and install new equipment)
Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory
Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (Virtual Local Area Networks, Port Security, and Thin Configurations)
Basic Qualifications:
Compliance with DoD **** Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals
Working knowledge of layer 2 switching concepts
Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper Return Material Authorization processes
Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, Single Mode/Fiber, Serial cables, Small Form-factor Pluggable)
Knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI models
Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, and Brocade Operating System
Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols like OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, Language Server Protocol, and Generic Routing Encapsulation
Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence
Working knowledge of Service Now or similar ITSM products
Up to 25% travel
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
Security+ Certification
Requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree with 4-6 years of prior relevant experience.
