Cubic APAC region is seeking a motivated and commercially astute Project Accountant to join our APAC team. This role plays a critical part in supporting the financial performance of complex defence and technology programs across the region.

About the RoleReporting under general supervision, this position is responsible for the financial management of delegated APAC Projects and Services contracts. You will work collaboratively across Commercial, Engineering, Project Management, Bids & Proposals, and Finance functions to ensure strong financial governance and performance.
You will continuously enhance the quality and depth of financial and non-financial information provided to senior management, enabling informed and strategic decision-making. This role requires sound judgement, strong initiative, and the confidence to exercise appropriate discretionary authority.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness & Financial PartneringAct as a trusted finance business partner to Program Management and Services teamsPrepare and review project financials for approvalMeet with Project Managers prior to monthly reviews to confirm project status, contract values, and estimates to completionPresent financial information at weekly and monthly project review meetingsFinancial Performance & ControlsMaintain project numbers, budgets, Estimates to Complete (ETCs), and related data within the ERP systemPrepare monthly project reports and detailed variance analysisMonitor program risks and opportunities, maintaining the financial risk registerEscalate significant variances or issues that may impact project outcomesEnsure alignment between financial reporting and project schedules in collaboration with Project PlannersBilling, Forecasting & Cash FlowPrepare and manage billings in collaboration with Contracts and Project teamsAdvise on billings, retentions, debtors, and cash flow for individual projectsLiaise with intercompany stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely forecast inputsAssist in claims and variations preparation, including cost models and pricing schedulesBids, Budgets & ComplianceReview and generate bid summaries for accuracy and compliance with company rates and mark-upsSupport FP&A in monthly, quarterly, and annual budget preparationAssist with internal and external audits and Sarbanes-Oxley complianceEnsure adherence to Cubic’s Quality Management System, OHSE, HR, and security policiesTeam & DevelopmentSupport and mentor junior team membersContribute to process improvement initiatives across project finance
About YouQualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting or BusinessCA / CPA / CIMA qualified
Experience & SkillsMinimum 5 years’ experience in project or management accounting within a project or services-based environmentStrong understanding of project financial lifecycle managementAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsAbility to present financial information to Senior and Executive ManagementExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsProven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
Desirable:Experience with SAP and PrimaveraExperience in a technology or defence environmentKnowledge of Earned Value Reporting
