This role offers the opportunity to specialise in the Bone Marrow Transplant, Leukaemia, and Lymphoma Stream and/or the Neuro-Oncology and Solid Tumour Stream. As a Fellow-level clinician, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality medical services, participating in all clinical duties, and upholding the values of the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service. You'll participate in an active teaching program, including Oncology Advanced Trainee teaching, and research activities leading to conference presentations and publications
About The Team
The Oncology Services Group includes the Oncology Service, Blood and Marrow Transplant Service, Haematology Service and the Paediatric Palliative Care Service. The Oncology Service has dedicated consultant teams focussing on Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Bone Marrow Transplant; Solid Tumours and Neuro-oncology; Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and non-malignant Haematology.
Consultant medical staff are supported by junior and middle-grade medical staff, including specialist training fellows in paediatric oncology. We provide a centralised, state-wide service for Queensland and Northern New South Wales, with an overall population of more than 5 million people.
About The Role
* Undertake regular assessment and performance review, actively participate in unit and facility based educational programs and meet mandatory training requirements
* Participate in clinical Outreach services to contribute to Paediatric Oncology services throughout Queensland, with consultant supervision.
* Inpatient, outpatient and consultative clinical services in malignant haematology, bone marrow transplant, neuro-oncology and solid tumour oncology.
* Work as part of the Oncology on-call and after-hours rosters, including weekends and public holidays.
* Supervision, provision of leadership and performance management of Junior Medical staff.
* Participate in the preparation and presentation at Paediatric Oncology meetings.
* Ensure appropriate and timely summary documentation through all phases of patient care, by completing patient progress notes, correspondence and reports including discharge planning and discharge summaries.
* Actively participate in the training and teaching of Junior Medical Staff, Medical Students and other members of the multidisciplinary team, including in departmental teaching programs. Undertake skills-based training to support this role. All clinical teachers are entitled to apply for a University of Queensland Academic Title at the level of Associate Lecturer (registrars) or Lecturer (Fellows with the FRACP or equivalent).
* Active participation in continuing professional development including attendance at relevant national and/or international conferences.
* Participate in research and quality assurance programs in areas relevant to Paediatric Oncology & Haematology.
