Strategic Program Director – Digital Transformation Engagement (Perth)
AWS Professional Services is seeking a Strategic Program Director to lead program governance for a landmark digital transformation engagement. This Perth‑based program spans multiple delivery streams – GenAI‑powered application modernisation, digital foundations and AI platform deployment, and organisational change management – with a combined team of 29+ across AWS, a global management consulting partner, and specialist delivery partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Own end‑to‑end program governance – Steering Committee cadence, executive reporting, investment decision support.
* Track and report value realisation against the multi‑year business case at each governance gate.
* Manage cross‑stream dependencies and integrated planning across all delivery streams.
* Lead risk and issue management across the program – be the point of escalation for resolution.
* Prepare for and lead the Post Investment Review at the 1‑year mark.
* Own the commercial relationship – manage program financials, negotiate scope and investment trade‑offs, shape statements of work.
* Operate as a strategic advisor to the customer's CDIO and executive leadership at peer level.
* Partner with a global management consulting firm's Principal as an equal, maintaining AWS accountability for program outcomes.
* Engage with AWS senior leadership on program strategy, escalations, and resource commitments.
* Shape the longer‑term commercial partnership model across delivery partners.
* Lead Year 3 planning and cross‑divisional replication assessment.
* Identify and drive strategic follow‑on opportunities that provide genuine business value.
* Apply principles of change management and transformation to ensure the program delivers behavioural and operational change – not just technology.
* Build strategic relationships with appropriate stakeholders across the customer's executive team, operations leadership, and technology organisation.
* Lead and mentor the program management team.
* Define and share engagement management best practices across the organisation.
* Establish executive governance frameworks, operational excellence standards, and program reporting mechanisms.
* Ensure the program team is stronger because of your presence, but does not require your presence to be successful.
Basic Qualifications
* 7+ years of leading multiple Agile teams (e.g., Scrum Masters, Product Owners) concurrently or at scale.
* 7+ years of delivering enterprise‑level IT engagements.
* 10+ years of external or internal customer‑facing, complex and large‑scale project management experience.
* Experience in executive level engagement with SVP/VP/C‑Suite.
* Experience working with customers on substantial, strategic, and complex software or cloud services/infrastructure deals from opportunity through closure.
* Knowledge of technology principles and services including infrastructure, business applications, data management, security, application platforms, and consumer‑facing technology.
Preferred Qualifications
* Active project management certification (e.g., APM, CSM, PMI‑ACP, PRINCE2).
* 7+ years of delivering customer engagements in a professional services role.
* Experience with Agile and project management toolsets such as Jira, Rally, VersionOne or Taiga.
