Hydraulic/Mechanical fitter – Mobile elevated work platforms
GMJ Equipment is seeking a competent, qualified (or 3rd+ year apprentice) hydraulic/mechanical fitter to help expand our operations. GMJ Equipment has established itself as Australia's leading manufacturer and supplier of mobile elevated work platforms for the past 40 years, distributing Australia wide to government electrical authorities and private contractors. We are a family owned and operated business based in Dandenong South, offering job security, low staff turnover, and hold long term contracts with government and private organisations.
We are seeking a full-time apprentice or trade qualified hydraulic/mechanical fitter, with proven experience in mobile plant, heavy mechanical assembly, or hydraulic systems. Welding skills are valued. The position requires someone capable of working autonomously without extended training, with a preferred start date in the new year.
Key duties will include:
* Assembly & plumbing of elevated work platform booms & components (cylinders, valves, linkages, slew ring etc.)
* Assembling hydraulic hose and fittings, and installing hydraulic lines
* Hydraulic system servicing, trouble shooting and repairs
* General fabrication and machining work
* Other general maintenance and workshop duties
Required skills:
* Preferable to have exposure working on mobile plant or light vehicles
* Demonstrated experience with hydraulic circuits, schematics, and component installation
* Background in mobile plant, mechanical assembly, or similar industrial equipment
* Welding ability viewed favourably
* High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
* Able to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a team environment
