The Role

Are you passionate about renewable energy and skilled at navigating complex legal and compliance landscapes? Join the team as a
Legal & Compliance Specialist
, where you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of large-scale solar and wind projects across Australia.

The Responsibilities

* Project Development Compliance
– Lead legal compliance reviews across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects, including land acquisition, environmental permits, grid connection, PPAs, and risk assessments. Provide solutions that ensure projects move forward smoothly.
* Regulatory & Legal Risk Management
– Monitor and analyse changes in Australian energy policies, land laws, foreign investment restrictions, and labour compliance. Identify risks early, provide mitigation strategies, and review critical contracts including EPC agreements.
* Training & Knowledge Sharing
– Deliver regular compliance and regulatory training to project and business teams, strengthening overall compliance awareness.
* External Resource Coordination
– Manage relationships with external law firms and consultants, ensuring efficient and effective resolution of complex legal challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

* Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Law, Energy Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields. A legal background is preferred, but strong project experience will also be considered.
* Experience:
3+ years' experience ideally in renewable energy project development (solar/wind) or legal risk management in property, real estate or similar is required.

Skills & Knowledge:

* Strong understanding of Australian energy regulations, foreign investment policies, land ownership systems, environmental requirements, and government approval processes.
* Holder of an Australian lawyer's licence (preferred, but not essential for candidates with exceptional project experience).
* Proven ability to negotiate, draft, and review complex agreements.

* High resilience and problem-solving ability in complex regulatory environments.
