Infection Control Coordinator - Mercy Health

About the opportunity

* Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the quality program throughout all areas of the service.
* Coordinating improvement in patient care and safety whilst providing leadership, support and training to all staff in the quality system.
* Responsible for the development, implementation, education and evaluation of effective Infection Control standards – acting as a role model providing leadership and clinical practice.
* Operate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure a highly responsive and flexible service to both internal and external health care providers.

Qualifications

* Registered Nurse with registration with APHRA.
* Postgraduate qualification in or working towards qualification in Infection Control or equivalent are highly desirable.
* Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
* Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
* A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.
* The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Evidence and Checks Required

* A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
* Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.

Additional Qualifications & Competencies

* Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty.
* Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
* Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
* Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care.
* Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
