Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineering Lead to manage the Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (E&I) scope across a range of heavy industrial and mineral processing projects. The role covers the full automation lifecycle – from control philosophy and architecture design to plant commissioning and operational stabilisation. Deliver Rockwell-based automation systems and lead the plant during live commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop control philosophy and plant‐wide PLC/SCADA architecture.
* Design EtherNet/IP network topology and shutdown/emergency stop strategies.
* Implement cybersecurity and remote access frameworks.
* Own engineering delivery and approve key documentation: Functional Design Specification, I/O lists, instrument index and loop diagrams, single line diagrams, interlock schedules, control panel layouts, network architecture, FAT/SAT procedures, and commissioning test sheets.
* Program Studio 5000 using UDTs and AOIs, adopt ISA‐88/ISA‐95 modular architecture, manage alarms per ISA‐18.2, and configure FactoryTalk graphics and trending.
* Lead advanced process control tasks: mill load control and optimisation, PID tuning under operating load, pump cascade protection logic, thickener density stabilisation, and filter press cycle optimisation.
* Lead FAT/SAT testing, supervise instrumentation and panel installation quality, conduct loop checks and I/O verification, troubleshoot live‐plant conditions, and support ramp‐up to steady‐state production.
Qualifications & Experience
* 10+ years in industrial automation.
* 5+ years working in mineral processing or heavy industrial plants.
* Demonstrated delivery using Rockwell/Allen‐Bradley platforms.
* Experience on major industrial projects with proven plant commissioning leadership.
* Additional expertise in brownfield integration projects, containerised MCC systems, and large multi‐area plant control networks is highly regarded.
Why This Role Is Interesting
* Lead the automation scope on major industrial facilities.
* Hands‐on involvement in real commissioning work.
* Collaborate with engineers delivering complex process infrastructure.
