Allambi Care are seeking a motivated and dedicated person to join our counselling service! this person needs to be willing and flexible to work outside of normal working hours, as required by families, clients and business needs. Applications close Thursday 5th June 2025 Position Objective The East Lakes Adolescent and Family Counselling Service (ELAFC) aims to offer counselling and mediation services to young people and their families, to foster reconciliation, promote wellbeing and safety for young people, family connection or transition to independent living when appropriate. The ELAFC service promotes family and community wellbeing and delivers culturally safe, responsive, flexible, trauma-informed support, to meet the needs of young people 10yrs to 18yrs of age, their families, parents or carers, and communities experiencing at risk of vulnerability. Main Duties and Responsibilities Actively support adolescents and their families to prevent adolescent homelessness. Provide counselling, mediation and family therapeutic supports. Develop and implement client focused case management that encourages young people to develop skills that assist them to deal with immediate crisis and family relationships. Provision of effective and appropriate strategies to parents and families, while assisting in strengthening family relationships. Develop and maintain a quality holistic service that promotes personal development and opportunities for young people and the active pursuit of their rights and responsibilities. Seek to empower young people through involvement, decision making and problem solving. Utilise service delivery strategies of counselling and practical assistance as appropriate in direct one to one work with adolescents and their families. Deliver research-informed parenting programs. Deliver education, skills and wellbeing groups for young people. Ensure confidentiality and mandatory reporting requirements are in line with policies and procedures of the organisation and relevant legislation. Participate strongly in community networking and establishing relationships to support the clientele reach and connections. Make referrals to appropriate services and agencies as necessary. Conduct safety planning, risk assessments and mandatory reporting where needed. Oversee input and quality control of data input, required for program evaluation. Ensure the Manager and/or Director are aware of any critical incidents especially those that may involve safety of a client/family. Oversee the quality, content and objective professionalism of all required record keeping, in line with Allambi requirements and standards. Ensure program clients are referred to required services and connected to their support network at every opportunity. Have knowledge of current legislation, policies and procedures related to Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence NSW. Understand the National Plan to end Violence Against Women and Children 2022-2032. Ensure that in all Cases you act in a professional and appropriate manner, showing respect to families and fellow staff. Attend relevant training sessions directed by program Director/Manager. Work both independently and part of a team. Any other tasks assigned by the Department Director or Manager. Work flexible hours including weekends and evenings where needed to support the needs of the program and clientele. Participate in external supervision and other reflective internal team meetings and trainings. Follow Allambi Care policy and procedure requirements. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the services being delivered to the young person and/or their families. Click HERE to learn more. Minimum requirements Formal tertiary qualifications in counselling, social work, psychology or relevant social science. Experience in case management, counselling and therapeutic work. Knowledge and competence in information technology use. Including Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge of group processes, youth and parenting programs and a willingness to learn. Have the ability to work flexible hours inline with family, client and business needs.
